Tuscany boasts some of Italy’s most famous wine appellations: Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico, Nobile di Montepulciano, Montecucco, Morellino di Scansano…
In 2014 Toscana Wine Architecture was born, a network of wineries noted for their impressive architectural elements and production technologies. These wineries include Cantina Antinori and Fattoria La Massa in the Chianti Classico area.
Antinori Chianti Classico
The Antinori family has been making wine for over six hundred years. The Antinori Chianti Classico winery is situated between the valleys of Greve and Pesa, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. The winery was designed by Marco Casamonti of Archea Associati.
Marco Casamonti and fellow Archea partners Laura Andreini and Giovanni Polazzi founded Archea Associati in Florence in 1988. Since then Archea has expanded to more around 120 architects in three offices in Italy (Florence, Milan, Rome) and three design offices overseas (Beijing, Dubai, São Paulo).
The innovative new Antinori Winery in San Casciano Val di Pesa was the result of seven years of construction, and was finished in 2012. Construction budget was 67 million euro.

Purchase a visit or a voucher choosing from the different winery tours, La Barriccaia, La Bottaia or La Bottaia CRU. Tastings take place in the suspended tasting room or in the Bottaia room, a unique experience.

1 | La Barriccaia, a journey to discover the Antinori family: € 42 per person. Duration 1 h 30 min
Wines: Conte della Vipera Umbria IGT, Villa Antinori Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva and La Vigna sul Tetto Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva
2 | La Bottaia, in depth, following the passion for wine of the Marchesi Antinori: € 69 per person. Duration 2 h.
The tasting takes place in the suggestive suspended room or in the Bottaia room and includes 4 wines: Villa Antinori Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Badia a Passignano Chianti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione and "A" Toscana Rosato IGT
3 | La Bottaia CRU, an architectural journey, an immersion in the production philosophy of the Antinori Marquises: € 180 per person. Duration 2 h 30 min plus lunch.
Wines: Cervaro della Sala Umbria IGT, Badia a Passignano Chianti Classico DOCG Grand Selection, Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Tignanello Toscana IGT tasted in the Bottaia room or in the suggestive suspended room. The visit ends in the “Rinuccio1180” restaurant, where a selection of wines will accompany traditional Tuscan dishes revisited in a contemporary way.
